Mentored Squirrel Hunt

Outdoor Adventure Center and The Missouri Department of Conservation are hosting a Mentored Squirrel Hunt for individuals ages 11+ (ages 11-15 must be accompanied by registered adult). This hunt is great for first time hunters or those wanting to gain more experience hunting squirrels. 

Hunters 16+ must be hunter education certified & possess a valid MDC small game hunting permit or proof of exemption. They must also possess all applicable FLW hunting permits (iSportsman Hunting permit is $17). 

If participants wish to bring their own firearms, they must be registered with FLW and are responsible for bringing their own ammunition. Otherwise MDC will provide a firearm & ammo for registered participants  -please EMAIL by 1 June if you need to borrow a firearm. 

Timeline of events:

• 7 am - 8 am: participants meet at Outdoor Adventure Center to learn about squirrel biology & behavior, calling techniques, and hunting regulations.
• 8 am - 11 am: hunters are assigned a mentor & depart to the designated hunting site. 
• 11 am - 12 pm: return back to OAC for a cleaning demonstration and how to prepare squirrel for cooking.
