Exercising can be a safe and fun way for your child with special needs to get additional help handling particular challenges. The physical and mental benefits of both Yoga and Zumba have been proven to be helpful on many levels.
Both Yoga and Zumba have been used in a therapeutic way for children who have the following: autism, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, learning disabilities, down syndrome, attention deficit disorder, and problems with hearing or vision.
Benefits include: building self-esteem, improving social interaction, improving focus and function of daily living skills, weight loss, reduction of anxiety, having fun while getting fit, and allowing for positive or negative energy resulting in productive output.
Families are encouraged to bring yoga mats or other needed exercising equipment. Due to expected physical activities, please consult with a physician before attending this program.
